2024 Facilitator Gathering Recap

From October 22-24, 2024 our team at Supporting Wellbeing hosted our annual Facilitator Gathering in Sǫ̀mba K’è. This three-day event brought together seven of our trained facilitators from across the NWT to discuss and enhance our training curriculum.

The gathering started with a full-day workshop on queer identities, led by Northern Mosaic Network. This session provided our facilitators with valuable knowledge to better support and understand diverse identities within our communities. It set a positive and inclusive tone for the rest of the gathering.

The second day began with an enlightening session on Indigenous governance and traditional medicines by Lila Erasmus. The knowledge shared during this session deepened our understanding of Indigenous governance structures and respect for traditional practices.

A significant portion of the gathering was dedicated to a thorough review of our curriculum. Our facilitators shared their successes, stories, and insights from the trainings that they had delivered. We delved into each of our six modules:

  1. Creating Community
  2. Setting Up Camp for Wellbeing
  3. Intergenerational Trauma & Resiliency
  4. Conflict Resolution & Communication Skills
  5. Suicide Intervention
  6. Supporting Wellbeing When the Program Ends

We are excited to take the feedback gathered during the Facilitator Gathering and implement changes to our curriculum to better serve our facilitators and participants. The event reaffirmed our commitment to fostering community, enhancing mental health resources, and honouring the values that guide our work.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this event a success!
