Providing culturally relevant mental health response training for on the land programmers in Northern communities.
About
Supporting Wellbeing (SWB) is an emerging training program that aims to provide tools and resources for people to deliver land-based programming that will better prepare them to mitigate and respond to mental health challenges on the Land.
SWB is designed for Northern land-based programmers who have some level of experience in planning and delivering on the land initiatives. They may have little-to-no formal education in mental health supports.
“The supporting wellbeing program will help my community successfully plan and deliver on the land programming. This curriculum was developed by northerners and considers every aspect of on the land programming, from set up to aftercare.”
Jennie Vandermeer
Former Sahtú Steering Committee
“I was encouraged to take part in Supporting Wellbeing to provide more resources and tools for my land-based tool kit, little did I know I would be accessing a world of knowledge to better support myself as well. Being a community leader is a long-term goal, the ability to access programs to better support the well-being of those out on the land with me, brings me comfort and confidence in cultivating a safe space for my community. “

“I have way more tools and feel better prepared to run on the land camps.”
