Sǫ̀mba K’è Training — July 9,10, 2026

Supporting Wellbeing hosted a fee-for-service training in partnership with the Tłı̨chǫ Government Įmbè Program in Sǫ̀mba K’è/Yellowknife. In this modified version of our training, three of our Supporting Wellbeing modules were covered over two days in the sky dome at North of 60 Aurora Adventures.

Six participants from the Tłı̨chǫ Įmbè Program travelled to Sǫ̀mba K’è from all four Tłı̨chǫ communities; Behchokǫ̀, Wekweètì, Gamètì and Whatì to join in this training.

Facilitator-in-Training, Maxine Lacorne, Facilitator Mentor, Mandee McDonald and Emotional Support Amanda Baton came together to guide this group through learning about creating community, setting up camp for wellbeing and conflict resolution over the two days. The group was very excited to learn and apply these skills in both their personal and professional lives, many were happy to realize that they were already applying these skills into their work.

This training was home to a lot of laughter over a short amount of time. Participants had a lot of fun in group activities, role playing and working through scenarios. The group was able to take advantage of the nice summer weather and gather outside to complete some of these activities.

Participants expressed lots of gratitude for the knowledge they learned and are looking forward to using their new skills in creating community agreements, conflict resolution and using wellness checks to check in on each other and themselves. We are excited to see how these individuals grow into their programming and leadership roles in the future!

Ması̀ to the Tłı̨chǫ Įmbè team for co-coordinating this training with us. To the participants for their excitement and enthusiasm, and to husband and wife team Larry and Kelly at North of 60 Aurora Adventures who created a cozy environment and kept everyone well fed and taken care of.

Ması̀cho!
